Actually I am a little helpless but happy as well because my highway had been closed for a last few weeks that was closed for vehicular traffic for a couple of weeks because we were having the longest procession in the world that brings more than thirty million people walking on foot mostly bare footed. Would you believe me that almost one million people come to bring holy water from Ganges every day and walk back on foot to their hometowns?
Most of them generally walk a distance at an average 250km for famous Kanwar Yatra, people bringing holy water from Ganges in Haridwar to offer a bath to Lord Shiva in their local temples.
That procession blocks roads for almost 12-15 days. The roads are blocked but the huge procession is some thing out of the world although that keeps us out of circulation from rest of the world because administration closes all byroads for safe journey of devotees.
This is their idea of joy to walk while it rains. This festival generally celebrated in the month of July the month of rain. But the most surprising part is that people are increasing every year.
I love it while it rains although it makes me lazier but this festival with thousands people walking every hour in front of my locality chanting and singing keeps every one alive. You know I too have traveled long distances while it rains on motor bike because that is so much fun When I pass through the forests, hilly roads while it is still raining that is joy which is not describable in words although I have not done it for any religious purpose.
